Degree of Hearing Loss
The degree of hearing loss could vary from mild to profound.
Mild: Difficulty understanding speech clearly in noisy environments or problems hearing soft sounds or high voices.
Moderate: In addition to the symptoms of a mild hearing loss, louder sounds or voices are difficult to hear, especially in environments with a lot of background noise.
Severe: In additional to all symptoms in mild and moderate, some loud sounds are audible, but understanding speech is impossible without the help of hearing instruments.
Profound: This is the most severe type of hearing loss. You may still be able to hear extremely loud sounds, but for the most part, you are unable to hear everyday sounds in your environment without the help of hearing instruments.
